Xiaomi 17 Max Officially Unveiled With 8,000mAh Battery and 200MP Leica Camera

Xiaomi has officially introduced the new Xiaomi 17 Max, a premium flagship smartphone designed for users who want massive battery life, high-end gaming performance, and advanced camera technology in one device. The phone was revealed during Xiaomi’s latest launch event in China and quickly gained attention thanks to its huge 8,000mAh battery, Leica-powered 200MP camera system, and Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor.

The Xiaomi 17 Max is the newest addition to the Xiaomi 17 lineup, joining the standard Xiaomi 17, Xiaomi 17 Pro, Xiaomi 17 Pro Max, and Xiaomi 17 Ultra. Unlike some earlier rumors, the device focuses more on battery endurance and practical flagship features rather than experimental secondary displays or unusual hardware concepts.

One of the biggest highlights of the Xiaomi 17 Max is its enormous 8,000mAh silicon-carbon battery. Xiaomi says the battery uses advanced high-density technology with improved silicon content, allowing the company to fit a much larger battery inside a relatively slim flagship body. According to Xiaomi’s internal testing, the phone can deliver more than 33 hours of continuous screen usage under certain conditions.

Despite the large battery size, charging speeds remain extremely fast. The device supports 100W wired charging and 50W wireless charging, alongside reverse wired and wireless charging features for powering accessories or other devices.

The smartphone features a large 6.9-inch LTPO AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and peak brightness reaching 3,500 nits. Xiaomi also included Dragon Crystal Glass Gen 3 protection and adaptive refresh rate technology that scales between 1Hz and 120Hz to improve battery efficiency.

Under the hood, the Xiaomi 17 Max runs on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset paired with up to 16GB of RAM and 512GB of internal storage. Xiaomi claims its new 3D cooling system helps maintain stable gaming performance even during long gaming sessions with demanding titles.

Photography is another major focus of the device. The rear camera setup includes a 200MP main Leica camera with optical image stabilization, a 50MP periscope telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom, and a 50MP ultrawide sensor. The phone also supports advanced computational photography features, macro photography, and high-resolution video recording.

For selfies and video calls, Xiaomi added a 32MP front-facing camera.

The Xiaomi 17 Max ships with Android 16 and Xiaomi’s latest HyperOS 3 software. Additional features include stereo speakers, ultrasonic fingerprint scanning, Wi-Fi 7 support, Bluetooth 5.4, NFC, satellite communication features in select regions, and IP68 water and dust resistance.

The phone is currently launching first in China, with pre-orders already open. Sales are scheduled to begin on May 25. Xiaomi has not yet confirmed global availability, but international versions are expected later this year.

A teardown video of the Xiaomi 17 Max was also recently uploaded online, giving viewers an inside look at the phone’s internal cooling system, battery design, and camera hardware. The video quickly attracted attention across tech communities shortly after the official launch.
